A survey on Retirees
Standard Life Aberdeen (SLA) completed a survey with 2,000 UK adults who were either due to retire in the next 12 months, or had retired in the past 12 months. The survey provided a lot of data, some of which was much more interesting than we would have expected. Here are some of the more interesting facts that came out of this survey:
- 37% of those surveyed had sped up their retirement date, three of the top reasons for this were related to the pandemic.
- Of the 37% in the above statement, 56% did not plan to give up work completely with 27% saying they will work part time to support their retirement income.
- Those who plan to work part time after they ‘retire’ could be due to finding that only 37% of those surveyed felt very confident that they were financially ready to finish working.
- 33% of retirees had less than £100,000 in their pension savings.
